We have just said goodbye to our students from Hangzhou who arrived in East Sussex for a week of learning and fun-filled activities at their sister school on 23rd January 2019.
The 24 students who came to one of our British partner schools took part in immersive classes, sports activities, after-school clubs, as well as cultural trips to London, Cambridge and Manchester.
Through our Buddy Scheme, each of the students was paired up with a British student. Chinese pupils attended their classes with their buddies, helping them to integrate into the school and make long lasting friendships!
The students first trip was to London. On the first day they were able to see Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and go on the London Eye.
Their second day in London took them to The British Museum, Tower Bridge and Westfields Shopping Centre before they returned to school in time for a full day of classes on Monday and Tuesday.
As part of the after-school activities available at their sister school, students were able to enjoy cooking and crafts and the rest of the week saw the pupils visit Cambridge to enjoy a visit to King’s College and try the traditional Cambridge activity of punting.
Next they were off to Manchester where they visited the Museum of Science and Industry and Manchester Old Trafford Football Stadium!
Their final stop before flying home back to China was a trip to Oxford. In Oxford the students participated in a walking tour of the city and visited the historic Christchurch College. They also managed to fit in a trip to Windsor Castle – a prestigious British landmark steeped in history.
All of our students from Hangzhou had a wonderful time making friends at their sister school and are surely returning to China with wonderful memories of their time in the UK.
Students from our Chinese partner School are taking part in an exchange programme with their sister school in the UK organised by Asia UK Schooling.
